Incorporated in 1893, the city of Kamloops is the major service center in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD).  Kamloops is situated in the heart of British Columbia's Southern Interior in a scenic valley at the junction of the North and South Thompson Rivers.  Kamloops is the third largest city in B.C. outside the Lower Mainland with about 80,000 people residing within its municipal boundaries. Kamloops has an area that covers 373 square kilometers (144 square miles). According to recent census data, more than 119,000 live in the TNRD.

Kamloops is the transportation hub of B.C.'s southern interior.  The city lies at the crossroads of B.C.'s four major highways and Canada's two main railways.  Excellent highway and rail connections plus regional air service make Kamloops readily accessible to markets near and far
